About Me
Boozhoo! Tonshe! I am a citizen of the Turtle Mountain band of Chippewa Indians, Belcourt, North Dakota. I have worked as an educator for forty-four years. I am a recently retired Associate professor of Educational Leadership at NDSU. As an artist I revived the pre-contact tribal art of Birch Bark Biting which was done at Turtle Mountain but had died out. I am a poet, with three published books. My fourth poetry book will be out in October, 2020. I also have an academic book, Stringing Rosaries (2019), about American Indian Boarding Schools. I am a jingle dress dancer. For relaxation and as a hobby, I’m dabbling in water color art. I live in a Cozy Cottage by a lovely lake in the Turtle Mountains.
